Cute card. Fall Watercolor Card of Romans 8:18
ReplyDeleteA good friend of mine is going to have skull surgery Sept. 28th to correct the Chiari Malformation that is compressing part of her brain and causing her constant headaches, balance problems and nausea. She has lost 60 pounds since last November and now has to walk with a cane (she's only 45 and used to be a coach for Girls on the Run at our local elementary school just 2 years ago). Through it all, she has remained firm in her faith, although like all of us, she has her moments of fear and worry. This card is for her. Romans 8 is a beautiful chapter with many comforting verses, but when I saw this Verve stamp with verse 18, I knew I had to order it. This verse helps put things into perspective.
I recently bought some Twinkling H2O fall watercolor paints, so I thought I'd use them on this card since they are so pretty and perfect for this time of year in Michigan. I die cut an A2 card using Spellbinders Divine Eloquence A2 Card Creator dies. I cut out 2 sizes of Spellbinders Labels 28 for my sentiment and mat. I stamped my sentiment, adhered it to the mat, and adhered that to the card. In hindsight, I should have watercolored the card BEFORE adhering the sentiment and mat, but now I know for next time!
For the water coloring, I spritzed the Twinkling H2Os I planned to use and then let them sit for a few minutes. Using a small paint brush, I painted on 3 different watercolors and let them dry. Then I die cut a leaf out of copper metallic paper using Fiskar's Fuse leaf die set. Did you know you don't need the Fiskar's Fuse machine to use the Fuse die cuts? Yep! You can use them in your Cuttlebug.
You may not be able to tell from the picture, but the watercolors have a gorgeous shimmer to them.
I bent the leaf die cut in a few places to make it look a little more realistic. I may wind up just hand delivering this without an envelope. I stop by my friend's house a few times a week anyway, so I just have to remember to bring it with me next time!
Here's the inside. This is another one of Verve's lovely scripture stamps.
I'm planning to enter this card in the following challenges:
